Roberta Burley - Assistant Administrator, Chalet

Accounting Manager

Roberta has been part of The Village Team for over thirteen years, from the early days of Waterman Lake, right through to the development of our nine other Village communities.  Roberta managed the team of Accountants who oversaw our ten communities, eventually turning her attention back to Waterman Lake where she'd started a decade before. Now, as Assistant Administrator, Roberta sits at the helm of The Chalet building where she is always accessible to staff and residents. This new component of her job affords her the time and resources to really get to know residents and families, to be involved in their daily lives. A born problem solver, Roberta enjoys assisting residents in their daily challenges and helping The Chalet team address issues in a prompt and effective manner.

Roberta continues to oversee all bookkeeping for the campus as part of her role as Accounting Manager.

Roberta holds associate degrees in both management and accounting and possesses twenty-five years experience in the field of accounting.

She has one son and makes her home in Johnston.

Kerry McGuinness - Assistant Administrator, Courtyard

Kerry joined the Village team in June 2007 bringing with her more than 15 years experience in the long term care industry, most recently at Lifecare Centers of America. As Assistant Administrator, Kerry oversees Operations of The Village's Courtyard building, which is comprised of our specialized residences for the memory impaired and enhanced assisted living, as well as The Village's state-of-the-art nursing home, The Atrium.

Kerry possesses a BA in Social Work from Providence College along with a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration from Salve Regina University. She holds Nursing Home Administration licenses in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Kerry assists families through the transition process and spends one on one time with new residents to ease their acclimation.  She says she most enjoys watching the transformation as new residents begin to thrive here, family members' stress diminishes, and family visits become enjoyable experiences for everyone involved. Kerry also enjoys connecting with memory impaired residents and learning from them.

Kerry is a member of the Bristol Community College adjunct faculty, a member of the ACHCA, a Certified Geriatric Care Manager, and active member of both the Holy Name Church and the YMCA.

Kerry has two sons attending college in Western Mass.  She makes her home in Fall River, MA and when she is not here at the community, you can probably find her swimming, sailing, hiking, biking, or skiing.

Cindy Donahue, RN - Director of Nursing, Lodge and Chalet

Cindy has been managing the Nursing Team here at The Village for nearly ten years. Cindy works closely with residents and families developing and managing their personalized care plan. Cindy considers herself the resident's advocate and works tirelessly on their behalf to ensure they are enjoying the highest quality of life and receiving the most effective type of care.

While Cindy's attention is focused primarily on the Lodge building, her expertise is often called upon when situations arise at The Chalet, should a resident take ill or perhaps fall.  Cindy leads a team of CNA's who know to keep her constantly abreast of resident status so that she may be proactive in meeting their needs.

Cindy previously spent a decade at Fatima Hospital working on both the Medical Surgical Floor and the Oncology Unit. She went on to work at Harvard Community Health and later for Dr. DeLuca, for whom she did patient assessments, patient teaching, medication ordering and follow-up care and testing.

Cindy lives in Glocester with her husband of twenty-seven years. They have a son, Kevin, and a daughter, Sarah, both of whom are in college.

Linda Martin, RN, CIPG- Director of Nursing, Courtyard

Linda joined The Village team in 2003, assuming the role of Courtyard Nurse Manager in July of 2004. As Director of Nursing for the Courtyard building, Linda oversees nursing in all four Courtyard wings, including McIntosh, Macoun, Baldwin, and The Village's skilled nursing wing, The Atrium.

An RN since 1975, Linda worked at Fogarty Memorial Hospital for 12 years, primarily in a step down telemetry unit. She has spent time working in various nursing agencies in Rhode Island and recently recieved her Certificate of Interdisciplinary Practice in Geriatrics from URI.

Helene Dolce, RN - Nurse Manager, Atrium

Helene manages the nursing team in The Atrium, The Village's skilled nursing wing located in the Courtyard building. Under Helen''s management, the residential-style nursing home here at the Village continues to flourish. A great many of the letters of thanks we receive from families are in reference to the superb care and attention their loved ones received while staying in our Atrium.

The Atrium is a private pay nursing home, which caters solely to residents of The Village at Waterman Lake. Residents throughout the campus are able to take advantage of the skilled nursing wing to rehab after an illness or a fall.  The Atrium also acts as an appropriate stepping stone for residents who require more care than assisted living can provide, but who want to stay on the campus they call home.

Chef Sean Ferris - Executive Chef

Chef Sean comes to us with over 20 years experience in culinary arts. A graduate of Connecticut Culinary Institute (a member of the very first graduating class!), Sean served as Executive Chef of the Palm Restaurant in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada for nine years. After returning to his hometown of Connecticut, he successfully opened and served as Chef at two Mohegan Sun Casino restaurants, Sunburst Buffet and Fidelias.

Sean leads his dietary team of chefs, cooks, waitstaff coordinators, hostesses, waitstaff and kitchen staff by reminding them that we're only as good as our last meal served and that we must always strive to do better and to listen to resident feedback.  Under Sean's direction, the quality, preparation, and presentation of meals served has been unsurpassed as demonstrated in our most recent resident family survey results. Our monthly Chef Advisory meetings, team building dietary meetings, daily manager on duty reports, and the feedback our Chefs receive when walking the dining rooms have all contributed to our recent successes in this area.

Sean holds a Rhode Island food safety certification license and is Serve Safe certified.

Sean was a finalist in the top Chefs in Trefethen's "Club 30" Chardonnay Pairing Recipe Contest (out of 2000 entries). Sean also holds a gold key to the city of Las Vegas given to him by Mayor Oscar Goodman (March 23 is Sean Ferris Day in Las Vegas!).

Sean and his fiance, Sharon, make their home in Sterling, Connecticut.

Karlene Hogan - Activities Director, Chalet

Karlene has been a valued member of the Village team for 8 years. The Chalet residents depend on her to find the latest and greatest trip destinations, the best entertainers, most humorous plays, most ingenious projects and, of course, the region's best ice cream... Karlene is truly the leader of the pack and her sense of humor and robust spirit is often the source of much laughter during socials, pub parties, mystery rides, cooking programs, Arts & Crafts, Village trivia competitions, and bocce and billiard tournaments.

A licensed CDL, Karlene manages the Village's chauffeured transportation program. Her experience and deep familiarity with her residents' likes and dislikes enable her plan a unique and jam-packed program that is universally well-received. Karlene is wildly popular amongst the residents and is a regular recipient of family and resident letters of praise and thanks.

A lifelong resident of Coventry, Karlene enjoys spending time with residents and hearing their life stories.  Karlene has two sons and is the wife of the late Tim Hogan. A licensed hairdresser and professional poker dealer, Karlene has spent over a decade working with seniors.

Pamela Myers - Activities Director, Lodge

Pam joined The Village team in May of 2006. Pam's decades of experience in working with the memory impaired and senior populations coupled with her warm personality and positive energy make her the ideal person to lead the Activities program in our largest building.

Pam creates and runs a diverse and entertaining calendar for her residents, gearing her program choices to people of varying physical and mental skill levels.  Pam has introduced some of our most exciting and well-received programs to date including "This is Your Life", a monthly feature on the calendar in the tradition of the classic television show, and our Bonebuilding class, a specialized exercise program designed to enhance the function and flexibility of Osteoporosis sufferers.

Pam's kindness, optimism, and infectious smile have earned her the love and respect of residents and families.  Residents take advantage of her open door policy and use it to express feedback, recommend destination ideas, and offer suggestions on new programs.  They go to her with their problems and personal stories as well, which Pam says is the most rewarding part of her job, having the chance to be part of and touch resident's lives. As a result, many consider Pam a true confidante and close friend.

Pam has trained under renowned pioneer and author Naomi Feil and was President of the Statewide Healthcare's Activity Directors Council in her hometown of Indiana.

Pam has three children, all in college, and makes her home in Johnston.

Brian Vincent - Activities Director, Courtyard

Brian has spent his thirteen-year career working with the memory impaired. Prior to joining the Village team this past year, Brian spent three years at the South Kingston Adult Day Care Center in Wakefield and, before that, he worked at the Louis Feinstein Alzheimer's Center.

A certified Activities Director working towards his national certification, Brian is responsible for developing the Activities program for the Courtyard building with the help of Kelly Robinson, the Atrium's Activities Coordinator.

A throwback from another era, one might say, Brian uses his beloved sense of humor and countless other talents to connect with our memory impaired residents.  From his impersonations of Jimmy Durante and George Burns, to his intense reverence for the music, culture and history of their generation, Brian has a remarkable ability to connect with residents at all levels and in all capacities. He is quite often the main attraction at activities and functions, bringing an upbeat attitude and contagious spirit to everything he plans.

Together the Courtyard Activities Team experiment with new ideas while embellishing and expanding on our tried and true programs. Recent favorites include Cooking with the Chef, (where it's not unheard of for a pie to wind up in Chef Ray's face), Celebrity Spotlight, the monthly theme lunches, and the socials.  And you can't forget our year-round faves like The Village theatre, mystery rides, sightseeing tours, and cultural outings. In the warmer months, residents enjoy regularly scheduled boat rides and our weekly cookouts held on the brand new verandah.. Brian expanded our summer program to include monthly cookout excursions to places like Battleship Cove and Colt State Park, which Chef Ray Arpin attends as well so residents can be treated to a seasonal feast amongst the great outdoors. Our first annual Courtyard Carnival this fall was a huge success and boasted attractions like an old fashioned cake walk and pie judging contest.

Our recent survey results show that Brian's brand of lighthearted comedy intertwined with his physical, emotional, creative and spiritual programs have really brought our Courtyard program to the next level.

Brian was presented with the Award for Day Care Worker of the Year (runner up) at the State House.  He currently makes his home in Cranston.

Rhonda Steere - Housekeeping Manager

Rhonda is a true veteran here at Waterman Lake, having been with us since we opened our doors back in 1990. Rhonda is an integral part of the Village team and uses her experience and know-how to keep our campus up to the standards we demand.

Under Rhonda's direction, her team of housekeepers ensure that our three buildings are always clean and fresh smelling. They provide weekly housekeeping and linen service with a smile, and are more than willing to go the extra mile to help residents.  They keep the bathrooms stocked, the common rooms clutter free, the laundry fresh, and resident apartments organized, clean, and germ free.

Rhonda says that over the years she has seen many improvements and enhancements here at The Village, from the additional buildings built to new services added, but that our standards of excellence have never wavered. Our team philosophy which puts the resident first, has been consistent since day one, she says, and for that, she is very proud. She hopes to call The Village home for many decades to come.

Rhonda and her husband live here in Smithfield.

The Maintenance Team

As any Village resident will attest, our campus could not run without maintenance. They keep our driveways and walkways shoveled and plowed, and graciously clean off resident cars after every storm. The maintenance team can fix just about anything that needs fixing. We're not sure how they do it, but somehow maintenance always has the answers. It is maintenance that leads our fire safety drills, oversees elevator maintenance, and knows just what electrical box affects which area. They are electricians, plumbers, painters, and carpenters all rolled into one.

Our maintenance team avail themselves to staff and residents with a pleasant attitude and willingness to help, be it with repairs, to move or lift furniture and pictures, or to solve the everyday problems no one else can seem to solve.
